Camp Imua is a week-long recreational camping experience for 50 of Maui’s school-age children with special needs.
This camp has been a wonderful opportunity for hundreds of Maui’s differently-abled youth to enjoy a week of fun, educational, highly supervised activities, and a rare opportunity for their families and caregivers to take a well-deserved break. The camp is run by volunteers, and all of the events and activities, (things such as helicopter rides, massages, and a petting zoo), not to mention the food and drinks, are donated to the children by local individuals and businesses.
Volunteers are always needed; you can call Imua Family Services at 808-244-7476 for information on what’s needed and how to sign up.
Camp Imua supports the objective of providing differently-abled children with an opportunity to gain self-confidence, make friends and experience new activities.
Held each year at Camp Maluhia in the West Maui Mountains, a beautiful, relatively isolated setting with cabins, cafeteria facility and large group areas. Camp Imua is open to any child age 6-19 with a disability.
Camp Imua is a program of Imua Family Services, whose mission is to provide comprehensive early childhood development services to children and their families with the support and resources needed to achieve their full potential in life.
