In America we have the freedom to uphold human rights and justice. Now we have the precious opportunity to express our support of the Tibetan people in their struggle for self-determination and human rights at this difficult time in their history. Please join us every Monday evening at 5 p.m. at the corner of Hana and Haleakala Highways to show peaceful solidarity with the Tibetans. If you have Tibetan flags, please bring them and/or make pro-peace, pro-human rights, and pro-Tibetan signs. Please keep all expressions positive and peaceful. Some suggested slogans for signs or banners can be found below.
When asked recently in Seattle (Sunday, April 13, 2008) how Tibetans can bring their case to the world, His Holiness the Dalai Lama responded, “Please don’t forget us. Whatever way, help us.” We have included a list of ways you can help Tibet. Please share it with your friends. Hope to see you on Monday!
How you can help Tibet:
1. Participate in and/or organize peaceful solidarity activities supporting Tibetan rights and freedom.
2. Urge our political leaders to support any bills that advance the Tibetan peoples’ rights. Ask that they support Tibet by immediately dispatching independent fact-finding delegations to Tibet, demanding the end to brutal killings in the whole of Tibet and the release of Tibetans imprisoned since the protests began, demanding that Tibet be opened to the news media and medical assistance be provided to the injured, and that China open substantive talks with His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
